This weekend, I took on the enchanting challenge of the Run Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon, and let me tell you, it was a race to remember! As I laced up my running shoes (ridiculously early), I couldn’t help but feel the excitement of hitting the pavement alongside my fabulous running buddy, Elise. But this wasn’t just any race—it was a magical journey through Disney’s Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and beyond, all while embracing the whimsical theme of Encanto.
Encanto-Inspired Running Costumes
Our running crew didn’t just run; we brought the magic of Encanto to life. I channeled my inner Isabela Madrigal, while Elise rocked the Mirabel Madrigal look, and Kelly embodied the powerful Luisa Madrigal. Picture it: three hermanas conquering the course in style, thanks to some DIY magic around Sparkle Skirts. Since the theme of the half marathon as Encanto – these were popular characters seen all around the race course!!
Character Photo Ops Galore
One of the highlights of the race? Definitely the character photo ops! We couldn’t resist stopping to capture the magic with iconic Disney characters. From hanging out with the classic duo, Mickey and Minnie, to sharing the course with Rafiki and Timon from The Lion King, every snapshot was a memory in the making.
But it didn’t end there. Miguel from Coco and Pluto, as well as the mischievous Chip & Dale, joined the party, adding an extra dose of fun to our run. Each photo op was a chance to pause, smile, and soak in the joy of the Disney magic.
DIY Sparkle Skirts and Encanto Swag
Our costumes were a labor of love, centered around super cute Sparkle Skirts. I DIY’d my Isabela running costume and will share a ‘how to’ in an upcoming blog post.
Let me take you on a journey through the enchanting course that brought us from the Epcot parking lot to the finish line, all while embracing the magic of Disney.
Starting the Adventure: Epcot Parking Lot to World Showcase
Our adventure began in the Epcot parking lot, setting the stage for an epic run. We made our way backstage to the Epcot cast member parking lot, covering the same ground as Friday’s 5k for the first 1.5 miles. The excitement was palpable as we entered World Showcase through Mexico, running around the lagoon and soaking in the international flavors.
Running THrough Hollywood Studios
Leaving World Showcase, we ventured through the UK, turning left to go backstage and towards the picturesque Crescent Lake area. Running alongside the BoardWalk, we enjoyed the scenic views before heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The park welcomed us with open arms as we navigated Hollywood Blvd, Gertie’s lagoon, Echo Lake, and the immersive wonders of Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land.
Sunset Blvd and Beyond: Tower of Terror to Osceola Parkway
The course took us up Sunset Blvd, creating a cinematic experience as we passed iconic landmarks like the Tower of Terror. Exiting backstage to the right, we hit Buena Vista Dr, breezing by Coronado Springs Resort and Blizzard Beach. Our journey continued along Osceola Parkway, each step bringing us closer to the ultimate goal.
Epcot Excitement and the Finish Line Beckons
The final stretch included a run up World Dr, retracing steps for those who conquered the 10k. Taking the ramp to Epcot Center Dr, we headed back to Epcot, circling around Future World. The magic intensified as we ran backstage once again, the finish line in the Epcot parking lot beckoning with the promise of triumph.

But the post-race goodies didn’t stop there—a challenge medal, a snack box, and the runner’s essential: a banana.

The finisher’s medal for Disney races is always on theme. So this one had a super cute Mirabel Madrigal.
